  Toohey joined the Delaware County Daily Times in 1981 and spent over four decades covering the local sports landscape in and around Philadelphia 
   As assistant sports editor and Villanova beat writer, he reported on a wide array of athletics - from high school volleyball, field hockey, track, and wrestling to college sports 
  Toohey built a reputation for thorough storytelling on community sports, frequently covering District 1 championships and Delco league matchups. 
  Known for his steady, insightful reporting and deep connection with local athletes and coaches, Toohey has left a lasting legacy in Delaware County sports journalism
